Traditions and anniversaries in the run-up to Christmas

The first day of winter was 14 October,

and the first day on the winter side of the prime stave.

Then followed one anniversary after another for all the work that had to be done before Christmas.

Nobody took the chance of doing anything wrong in this dark time, because then most of the wits and sorcery were out there...

Communication manager Johanne Øvstebø Tvedten at Sunnhordland museum has many stories about people and their superstitions,

but most of all about Christmas joy!

Our Christmas market is open and we have a Christmas academy at 1500.
