Reuse and purchase of used materials

Haaheim has large collections of antique furniture.

Ever since I was a little boy, I have had a great interest in history and the reuse of old furniture and houses.

The coolest thing I knew was going to a museum and talking to older people about the old days. When I was 9 years old, I was at an estate auction, and that's when I really started collecting, - to my parents' great horror! The passion has followed me all my life and it is truly inspiring how much good craftsmanship lies behind many of the things that were made in the past.

Haaheim is also about taking care of history and telling it further. For several years we have been collecting Knagmøbler, the wonderful handcrafted furniture they made in Bergen from 1878-1975. Many of our well-known woodcarvers had jobs at Knag and all "furnished homes" gathered at Knag.

We have a large collection of this furniture and in collaboration with Christofer Knag, we have discovered much of the history of the furniture we have collected.

At Haaheim, many of the doors in rooms and lounges have been bought or obtained from old fine houses.
