On the island of Espevær outside Bømlo, the father of the house Torstein grew up, and there is an old farmhouse with houses from 1800 and 1868. Here, together with his sisters, he has opened the restaurant Gamleposten 5444.

Sjurina Mehus needed to provide for her family, and got the post office and medicine shop in Espevær in 1919. Here on the farm, the post office was first in the main house, then in the barn house from 1947. In 1981, postal operations on the farm ended, when Espevær got a new post office . Many have memories of these houses, they are houses that have brought the world to Espevær with letters, newspapers and parcels. For us, it is very exciting that the islanders and visiting guests can once again open the doors to the old houses. Here they must know the time that was, but also the time to come. Through good tastes and good company, we will be lifted out of everyday life. Gamleposten is open as a seasonal restaurant.
